Ko e mape
Muaná is a municipality on the southern side of Marajó, the vast island group at the mouth of the Amazon in the state of Pará. The town sits on the waterfront, and from above its short grid of streets looks like a small clearing held between river and forest. Most connections here run by boat, so the rivers, channels and creeks are as much a part of the map as the roads.
Life in Muaná follows the tides of the estuary. The waterways around it rise and fall daily, and much of the surrounding land is floodable forest threaded with narrow streams. The region is closely tied to açaí harvesting and river fishing. A Muaná map poster brings out that relationship: a compact town on one side, and a dense lacework of water spreading across the rest of the frame.
The urban area is small and fairly regular, with streets running back from the riverfront toward the forest edge. Beyond them the map becomes almost entirely water and land boundaries, islands, meanders and inlets. Rendered in black and white, the channels read like fine ink lines, and the result is one of the more unusual compositions a map poster can offer.
The town's streets run straight to the water's edge, where the waterfront acts as the main entrance for boats arriving from Belém and nearby communities.
Wide rivers and narrow creeks wind through the surrounding land, forming a fine, branching pattern that fills much of the frame.
Low, tide-affected land surrounds the town, shown on the poster as open spaces broken only by water lines.

Ko e ha Muaná
For people from Marajó, a map of Muaná shows home the way it really works: water first, roads second. It is a meaningful gift for family members who moved to Belém or further away and still think of the river.
The poster can be personalised with a title, subtitle and coordinates line, and printed in one of five styles: Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. Choose $9 digital HD files or a printed poster with an optional frame.
