About this Nūr map poster
Nūr sits on the southern shore of the Caspian Sea in Māzandarān Province. The coastline here is long and straight. Behind it lies a narrow plain of rice paddies and orchards, and further south the land rises into the green, forested foothills of the Alborz.
The town is built along the coast road that connects the Caspian towns. Its streets form a loose grid between the beach and the fields. A Nūr map poster shows three bands: the smooth shoreline, the densely built town, and the finely divided farmland behind it.
The name means light in Persian. In summer, Nūr is a popular seaside destination, and holiday homes and resorts line the coast. On the map this appears as a strip of development along the shore, with farmland immediately behind.
