Brookhaven lies just north of Atlanta in DeKalb County and became a city only in 2012, though its neighbourhoods are much older. Peachtree Road runs through it from south-west to north-east, carrying MARTA rail alongside, and most of the commercial life of the city gathers along that corridor.
Away from Peachtree the map softens. Residential streets curve through wooded lots, cul-de-sacs branch off quieter roads, and parks such as Murphey Candler and Blackburn open up green spaces. Oglethorpe University sits on Peachtree, and to the east the runways of Peachtree-DeKalb Airport form the most geometric shape on the map.
