Namysłów Map Poster & Print
Namysłów lies in the Opole Voivodeship of southwestern Poland, on the Widawa river in the historic region of Silesia. Its old town was laid out in the Middle Ages around a rectangular market square, and the plan still reads clearly from above: a regular grid of streets inside the line of the former walls, with the castle set at its edge.
The Gothic town hall stands in the middle of the square, and sections of the medieval fortifications survive, including the Kraków Gate tower. Namysłów is also known for its brewery, which traces its origins back several centuries and is among the oldest in Poland. Beyond the old town, later districts and the railway spread across flat land, with the Widawa winding through meadows nearby.

Line of the walls
The former fortifications can still be traced in the curving boundary of the old town, where the street pattern follows their course and a gate tower survives.
Widawa river
The Widawa flows past the town through open meadows, adding a gentle natural line that contrasts with the precise geometry of the medieval centre.
