Tifton is the seat of Tift County in South Georgia. It is a railroad town at heart, and it shows on the map. The downtown streets form a neat grid oriented to the tracks, and the blocks spread out from there into residential neighbourhoods with long, straight avenues. Interstate 75 runs along the western side of town, with its interchanges clearly marked by looping ramps.
Agriculture and research define the town. Tifton is home to Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College and a University of Georgia campus focused on farming science, and it has long called itself the Plant Capital of the World because of its nursery and transplant industry. Interstate 75 edge
The interstate runs along the town's western side. Its cloverleafs and ramps add loops and arcs that contrast with the right angles of the older streets.
College campuses
Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College and the UGA Tifton campus appear as broad parcels with winding drives and open grounds, a softer texture at the edges of the town.
