The map
Ōharu is a town in Aichi Prefecture, just beyond Nagoya's western city limits on the low, level Nōbi Plain. The terrain barely rises. From above, the map is a fine mesh of lanes, houses and small fields, broken up by waterways and embankments. These rivers and drainage channels have shaped the low-lying plain west of Nagoya for centuries.
The pattern is typical of Japan's commuter belts. Narrow streets wind between older neighbourhoods, newer housing sits in straighter plots, and rectangular paddy fields fill the gaps that development has not yet reached. Rail lines and main roads run across the town towards central Nagoya, so the map is laced with long straight strokes over a much finer texture.
An Ōharu map poster brings out that dense, layered texture. Printed in monochrome, the small blocks and field boundaries almost read like fabric, while rivers and rail lines draw firm lines across it. The result is subtle and detailed, and it rewards a closer look on a wall.

Small rectangular paddies are mixed in with residential lanes, a patchwork typical of towns on the edge of Japan's large cities.
Rail lines and arterial roads run east towards central Nagoya, laying straight strokes across the fine street pattern.

Why Ōharu
Ōharu is the kind of place people call home without it ever appearing in guidebooks, which makes a precise map of it more personal. It suits a first flat, a family house or a daily route towards Nagoya.
Personalise the title, subtitle and coordinates line, perhaps with the neighbourhood name and a moving-in date, and choose one of five styles: Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand.
