The map

About this Ouerdanine map poster

Ouerdanine is a town in the Monastir Governorate of Tunisia, in the Sahel, the coastal region known for its olive growing. It lies a little inland from the coast. From above, the town has a dense, irregular core of streets with newer, more regular neighbourhoods around it.

The older part of the town shows the close, winding lanes typical of many Tunisian towns, where houses are built tightly together around courtyards. Newer streets are straighter and more open. Beyond the town, the map is covered with the regular rows and plots of olive groves, which have shaped the Sahel for centuries.

An Ouerdanine map poster shows these layers together: the tight centre, the broader modern streets and the agricultural pattern around them. The composition is compact and balanced, and it gives people from the town a clear, recognisable image of home, whether they live in Monastir, Tunis or abroad.
