About this Pilar map poster
Pilar lies northwest of Buenos Aires, at the outer edge of the metropolitan area, and its map is one of the most varied in the region. The old town, with its square and church, sits at the centre, while around it spread an unusual mix of gated communities, farmland, industrial zones and suburban grids, each with its own distinct pattern.
The Panamericana highway runs through the district, carrying traffic to and from the capital, and appears on the map as a strong diagonal line. Around it the land is filled with the curving internal streets of the countryside estates, sharply contrasting with the rigid grid of the older neighbourhoods. The Luján river winds along the northern edge.
