The map
Pioltello lies just east of Milan, in the flat Lombard plain between the city and the Adda. The map shows a town made of several parts rather than one centre: the old core of Pioltello itself, the districts of Seggiano and Limito, and larger post-war neighbourhoods in between. Major roads and the railway divide these pieces, and fields still fill some of the gaps.
The Milan–Venice railway crosses the municipality, with the station of Pioltello-Limito serving commuters into the city. On the map the tracks form a long, heavy line, splitting the town into northern and southern halves. The Satellite district, built in the 1960s as a dense estate of tall apartment blocks, stands out as a cluster of larger footprints set on wide open plots.
Around the edges the Lombard countryside is still visible: rectangular fields, irrigation channels and farm roads meeting the newer industrial and logistics sites. A Pioltello map poster captures this layered edge-of-city landscape, where village cores, commuter housing, rail infrastructure and agriculture sit side by side in a surprisingly readable pattern.

A 1960s estate of tall residential blocks, drawn on the map as larger, widely spaced footprints that contrast with the tight grain of the older village cores.
Flat farmland crossed by irrigation channels survives at the edges of town, adding thin straight lines and open space to the composition.
