The map
Pittsburg, California, lies on the northern edge of Contra Costa County, facing the waterways where the Sacramento–San Joaquin Delta drains into Suisun Bay. From above, its northern side is all water, marsh and channel. Its southern side climbs gradually toward the dry hills that separate it from the rest of the East Bay.
The town was once promoted as New York of the Pacific. In 1911 it was renamed after Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, to reflect its growing steel industry. The old downtown near the waterfront keeps a small grid. Larger industrial sites, a highway corridor and suburban neighbourhoods fill the land between the shore and the hills.
A Pittsburg map poster has the Delta as its main feature. Irregular marshland edges, channels and islands take up the top of the page. The street grid spreads out beneath them and turns into winding cul-de-sacs toward the hills. It is an East Bay town defined by its water more than by any skyline.

The historic downtown sits near the water in a compact grid of short blocks. It is a reminder of the town's early port and industrial days.
South of the highway, streets curve and branch as they climb toward the hills. The grid dissolves into the looser forms of later suburbs.

Why Pittsburg
Pittsburg has grown with each wave of Bay Area housing, and many families have put down roots here. A map of the town marks that choice: the street, the marina, the view across the Delta toward the northern shore.
Personalise the title, subtitle and coordinates line, for example with a family name and the year you arrived. Then choose Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. Noir shows the waterways especially clearly.
