The district

About this Prenzlauer Berg map poster

Prenzlauer Berg lies north-east of Berlin's centre on slightly higher ground, and its map is a clear example of the city's nineteenth-century planning. Long, wide streets divide the district into large blocks, many filled with apartment buildings arranged around courtyards. Schönhauser Allee runs through it as the main north-south axis, carrying an elevated U-Bahn line.

Several squares punctuate the grid, among them Kollwitzplatz and Helmholtzplatz. Near Kollwitzplatz stands the Wasserturm, a round brick water tower that is one of the district's landmarks. The Kulturbrauerei occupies a former brewery complex, and Mauerpark on the western edge follows the strip once taken by the Berlin Wall.

A Prenzlauer Berg map poster has a calm, orderly character. The generous blocks and straight avenues are interrupted by small green squares, and the long open strip of Mauerpark forms a strong edge where the district meets its western neighbour.

Why Prenzlauer Berg

A map that means something

Prenzlauer Berg is a place where people settle: families, long-term tenants, anyone attached to a particular courtyard or square. The map records the calm order of those streets and fits naturally into a home.

Add your own title and subtitle, perhaps your Kiez or a move-in year, and set the coordinates line. Paper and Sand soften the grid, while Classic black and white keeps the blocks crisp.
