About this Rohtak map poster
Rohtak lies on the flat plains of Haryana, about seventy kilometres northwest of Delhi. On a map the city has two distinct characters. At the centre is an older core of narrow, winding lanes around the traditional markets. Around it is a ring of newer planned sectors with regular grids and wide roads. Highways and railway lines radiate outward, linking Rohtak with Delhi and other cities in the state.
The city is an education and medical centre for the region. Maharshi Dayanand University has a large campus here. The Pandit Bhagwat Dayal Sharma Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences, known as PGIMS, treats patients from across Haryana. Both appear on the map as large open areas with their own internal roads, distinct from the surrounding streets.
