The map

About this Rosemont map poster

Rosemont is an unincorporated community in Sacramento County, a few miles east of downtown Sacramento. The land is flat, part of the Sacramento Valley floor, and from above the area reads as a mix of curving residential streets, cul-de-sacs and straight arterial roads. Parks and school grounds provide open spaces within the neighbourhoods, and the American River lies not far to the north.

Much of Rosemont was built during the postwar growth of the Sacramento area, when new suburbs spread east from the city. The street plan reflects that era: long collector roads frame neighbourhoods of looping and curving streets, designed for quiet residential blocks rather than through traffic.

A Rosemont map poster turns that suburban layout into an intricate, balanced pattern. It is a map for people who grew up in these streets, bought their first house here, or moved away and want to keep a piece of their Sacramento neighbourhood on the wall.

01

Curving residential streets

Neighbourhoods are laid out in gentle curves, loops and cul-de-sacs, a characteristic postwar pattern that gives the map a soft, flowing texture.

02

Arterial road frame

Straight arterial roads divide the community into large blocks, forming a clear framework within which the curving residential streets are arranged.

03

Parks and schools

School campuses and neighbourhood parks appear as open areas scattered among the housing, adding rest points to an otherwise dense composition.
