The map
Santa Rita lies on the eastern shore of Lake Maracaibo in the Venezuelan state of Zulia, facing the city of Maracaibo across the water. On a map the lake shapes everything. A long shoreline runs north to south with the town set just behind it, and roads lead inland across the flat, low country of the eastern shore.
The municipality of Santa Rita is the eastern landing point of the General Rafael Urdaneta Bridge. It opened in 1962 and was one of the longest concrete bridges in the world at the time. Its straight line across the narrows of the lake is the most striking feature on any map of the area, linking the town directly to Maracaibo.
A Santa Rita map poster places the town between two strong elements, the wide surface of the lake and the thin line of the bridge. The street pattern is modest and stays close to the shore. That gives the design a clear sense of scale and makes the water feel even larger on the page.

The eastern shore of Lake Maracaibo runs along the town. The poster gets a large expanse of water on one side and a gentle, irregular coastline.
Main roads follow the shore toward other lakeside towns. They form long lines parallel to the water, with the town grid set between them.
