The map
Santa Rosa is a city in El Oro Province, on the coastal plain of southern Ecuador not far from Machala. The land is flat and fertile, and the countryside is dominated by banana plantations and aquaculture. To the west, the ground gives way to estuaries, channels and mangroves that connect the area with the Pacific and the Jambelí archipelago.
Shrimp farming is central to the local economy, and Santa Rosa is closely associated with it. From above, the ponds near the estuary form one of the most unusual patterns in the region: rectangular pools divided by thin embankments, spread between winding natural waterways. The town itself has a regular grid of streets around its centre.
A Santa Rosa map poster brings both geometries together: the orderly blocks of the town and the watery, fragmented land toward the coast. Depending on the framing, the river and the roads toward Machala and the Peruvian border add long lines across the composition. The map shows how closely the town and the estuary are tied together.

West of town, channels and mangroves wind toward the sea. On the map these natural waterways meander between the straighter edges of cultivated land.
Aquaculture ponds cover large areas near the coast. They form blocks of rectangular shapes that look almost like an abstract print when drawn in black lines.

Why Santa Rosa
For people from El Oro, Santa Rosa stands for work, family and life on the coast. A line map of the town and its estuaries gives that connection a calm, graphic form that fits a home, office or restaurant wall.
The title, subtitle and coordinates can be personalised with a name or a date. There are five styles: Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand. Order a printed poster or download the HD files for $9, including a print-ready PDF in each size.
