The map
Thung Song is best understood as a junction. The southern railway line passes through the town, and a branch line heads west from here toward Trang, so the tracks form a strong backbone on the map. The commercial streets gather close to the station, and the town extends outward from that point in a moderately regular pattern of blocks.
Beyond the built-up area, the map turns to open ground: plantations, small roads and the scattered forms of the hills that characterise inland Nakhon Si Thammarat. Waterways and ponds appear as small pale shapes, and the highway network links the town with the provincial capital and with the west coast.
For many travellers, Thung Song is a name on a train timetable, the place where southern routes divide. A Thung Song map poster gives that crossing point a fuller picture, showing the rail lines, the market streets and the edges where town gives way to countryside.
The main southern line and the branch toward Trang meet here, drawing long, confident lines through the town that make the station area the clear centre of the map.
Shops and markets concentrate in a tighter block pattern near the station, contrasting with more spacious residential streets further out.
Around the town, plantations, minor roads and hillier ground create a soft, scattered texture that frames the denser core.
