The map

About this Toviklin map poster

Toviklin is a commune in the Kouffo Department, in the southwest of Benin, a short distance from the border with Togo. It is mainly agricultural country, and on a map the town centre appears as a modest cluster of streets surrounded by villages, farm plots and the tracks that link them.

The land here is gently undulating plateau, with scattered settlements rather than one continuous built-up area. Main roads connect Toviklin to nearby communes and to the larger towns of the department, while smaller paths branch off towards individual villages and fields. The result is a network that looks loose and branching from above.

A Toviklin map poster works best as a portrait of that network. The centre gives a focal point, and the lines spreading out from it fill the sheet with a fine, irregular pattern. For people with roots in Kouffo, it is a clear, simple image of home.

01

Town centre

The administrative centre forms a small, denser cluster where the main roads meet, standing out against the lighter countryside.

02

Branching tracks

Unpaved roads and footpaths fan out towards surrounding villages, creating a tree-like pattern that fills much of the map.

03

Scattered villages

Small settlements dot the plateau at intervals, each a tiny knot of lines that gives the map rhythm.

Why Toviklin

A map that means something

Toviklin is rarely drawn on posters, which is part of the appeal. A map of it on the wall says something specific about where you or your family come from, in a way no generic print can.

Set your own title, subtitle and coordinates line. Pick Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. Download all six print sizes for $9, or order a printed poster on matte paper with an optional wooden frame.
