The map
Wakiso is the main town of Wakiso District in Uganda's Central Region. The district wraps almost entirely around Kampala, and the town itself lies to the north-west of the capital. The landscape is typical of this part of Uganda: rounded hills, valleys that often hold wetlands, and red-earth roads that follow the higher ground.
The map reflects that terrain. Instead of a grid, the streets follow ridges and curve around slopes, and buildings cluster along the main roads with gardens and small farms between them. A Wakiso map poster shows a place with loose, organic geometry, where the natural contours still decide where people build and where roads can go.
Wakiso District has grown rapidly as Kampala has expanded, and it is now one of the most populous districts in Uganda. Around the town, that growth appears as new roads and scattered houses spreading gradually into the countryside. The overall picture is of an area in transition, still green and hilly but increasingly connected to the capital next door.
The main roads trace the higher ground between valleys. They draw long, curving lines that show the hilly landscape even without shading.
Low, often wet valley floors stay largely free of buildings. They form open channels of empty space between the built-up ridges.
Denser development along the routes to the capital shows how the town is increasingly tied to Kampala's expanding metropolitan area.
