About this Wasco map poster
Wasco is an unincorporated community in Kane County, Illinois, in the Fox Valley on the far western edge of the Chicago region. From above it looks like the outer suburbs, where farmland and housing meet. Long, straight section-line roads mark the old agricultural grid. Between them are subdivisions of curving streets and cul-de-sacs, with ponds, open land and remaining fields in the spaces.
That contrast gives the map its character. The rectangular survey grid that divided Illinois into square-mile sections is still visible in the main roads. The residential streets inside each square follow their own softer logic. Nearby towns along the Fox River provide older downtowns, while Wasco keeps a quieter, more spread-out pattern.
