Te mapa
Ad Dilam lies in the Riyadh Region, south of the Saudi capital and not far from Al-Kharj. It belongs to an area where groundwater has long supported agriculture in otherwise arid terrain, and the map reflects that directly: a modest town surrounded by cultivated plots, palm groves and farm tracks, with open desert never far beyond.
The town itself is laid out in a largely regular pattern of blocks and wide roads, typical of Saudi towns that expanded in recent decades. Highways pass nearby, drawing long straight lines across the sheet. Around the edges, the geometry of irrigation, including the round fields made by centre-pivot systems common in the region, gives the print an unusual, almost graphic quality.
An Ad Dilam map poster also connects to an episode in the early history of the modern Saudi state: the town gave its name to a battle fought nearby in the first years of the twentieth century, during Ibn Saud's campaigns in central Arabia. Today the place is better known for its farms, and the map shows that agricultural character plainly.
Around the town the map picks up the shapes of farmland, including circular plots from centre-pivot irrigation, which read as crisp geometric forms on a plain background.
The built-up area is organised into fairly even blocks divided by wide streets, a clear and orderly pattern that stands out against the looser farm tracks outside.
Main roads run out of Ad Dilam in long straight lines toward Al-Kharj and the wider region, emphasising how open the surrounding landscape is.

Koteā ko Ad Dilam
For families from Ad Dilam and people who have worked on its farms, the map is a quiet, personal record of home. Its mix of town grid and field geometry also makes it interesting as a pure graphic, even to those who have never visited.
