Te mapa
Akjoujt is the capital of the Inchiri region in western Mauritania. It lies in the desert roughly midway between Nouakchott and the Adrar plateau. On the map, the town is a small, compact grid of streets surrounded by vast, open, nearly empty land. A few long roads cross the sand and link it to the capital and the interior.
The town is closely tied to mining. The deposits of copper and gold near Akjoujt have been worked for decades, and the mine is a major employer in the region. Its workings, including pits, waste heaps and access roads, sit just outside the town. On the map they appear as large, irregular shapes that contrast with the neat pattern of the streets.
An Akjoujt map poster is striking because it is so empty. Most of the sheet is open desert, crossed by a handful of roads and dry watercourses, with the town and the mine as the only concentrations of detail. The result is spare and graphic, and it has a strong sense of isolation.

Pits, waste heaps and haul roads from the copper and gold mine lie close to the town. They add large, irregular shapes to the composition.
Long roads lead out across the sand toward Nouakchott and the Adrar. They are the few strong lines on an otherwise almost blank sheet.

Koteā ko Akjoujt
The Akjoujt map suits people who lived or worked in Inchiri, whether as locals, mine engineers or travellers on the road north. It captures the town's remoteness in a way words rarely do.
Edit the title, add a subtitle such as the years you spent there, and keep or change the coordinates line. Choose from five styles: Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand. Sand is a natural fit here.
