Te mapa
Antratsyt lies in the south of Luhansk Oblast, in the coal-mining heart of the Donbas. The town takes its name from anthracite, the hard, high-grade coal mined beneath it. From above, residential streets spread across gently rolling steppe. They are interrupted by rail spurs, industrial sites and the conical spoil heaps typical of the region's mining towns.
The layout reflects twentieth-century planning. It combines regular blocks of houses and apartment buildings with larger industrial areas at the edges. Small rivers and ravines cut through the surrounding land, and roads follow the shallow valleys between the rises.
An Antratsyt map poster records a town whose form was set by what lies underground. For people who grew up there, or whose families worked in its mines, the plan is personal. It holds the streets, the rail lines and the steppe that surrounds them, drawn without any outside commentary.
The town's name comes from anthracite, and mining shaped where streets, rail spurs and industrial land were placed across the map.
Rail lines and industrial areas run along the edges of the residential districts. They add long, straight strokes to an otherwise even street pattern.
Open, rolling land surrounds the town, cut by shallow valleys. It gives the composition a wide, calm margin.
