Te mapa
Bataysk lies just south of Rostov-on-Don, separated from the larger city by the low, marshy floodplain of the Don. On a map this gap is striking: a wide band of wetland, channels and small lakes runs between the two, crossed by a handful of roads and railway embankments. Bataysk itself spreads across flat ground on the far side in a largely regular pattern of streets.
The town grew up around the railway and remains one of the key rail junctions of southern Russia, where lines heading toward the Caucasus and the Black Sea coast diverge. Tracks, yards and sidings form long, sweeping curves across the map, cutting through blocks of low-rise private houses laid out in neat rectangular plots.
The mix of rail geometry, gridded housing and the soft, irregular shapes of the floodplain gives the town an unusually graphic look from above. A Bataysk map poster captures that combination, with the edge of Rostov often visible across the water, and suits anyone who has lived on this side of the Don.
Wetlands, backwaters and small channels fill the wide gap between Bataysk and Rostov, creating an organic, patchy texture that separates the two urban areas on the map.
Several lines meet and fan out across the town, their long curves and broad track yards forming some of the strongest graphic lines in the composition.
Much of the town is made of detached houses on regular plots, so its streets form a fine, even grid that reads almost like graph paper in black and white.

Koteā ko Bataysk
Railway families, people who commute daily across the floodplain to Rostov and those who grew up among Bataysk's quiet residential streets will recognise the town immediately from its outline. The map is precise, calm and easy to live with on a wall.
