Apex Map Poster & Print
Apex lies southwest of Raleigh in North Carolina's Triangle region. It takes its name from its position as the highest point on the old Chatham Railroad line, and the railway still cuts diagonally through the historic downtown. Salem Street runs beside the tracks, lined with the brick storefronts of the original town, while newer neighbourhoods fan outward in loops and cul-de-sacs.
From above, Apex shows the two sides of a fast-growing Southern town. The core is small and straight, organised around the rail line. Beyond it spread large curving subdivisions, highway interchanges and wooded creek corridors. To the west the land opens towards the reservoir of Jordan Lake, and the outer beltway road skirts the town's southern and eastern edges.
An Apex map poster captures that shift from a rail-era grid to a suburban pattern of winding streets that almost resembles lace. The town's slogan, the Peak of Good Living, points back to the railway summit that gave it its name. In black and white, the diagonal tracks remain the line that holds the rest of the map together.

The railway diagonal
The former Chatham Railroad line crosses town at an angle. Apex was named for the highest point on that route, and the tracks still split the older street grid.
Looping subdivisions
Newer neighbourhoods are laid out in curving streets and cul-de-sacs, which gives large parts of the map a soft, organic texture next to the straight downtown.
