High Point Map Poster & Print
High Point sits in the Piedmont Triad of North Carolina, between Greensboro and Winston-Salem. It took its name from its position as the highest point on the original North Carolina Railroad line. The tracks still cut diagonally through downtown, Main Street crosses them near the centre, and neighbourhoods fan out around the old core in shifting grids.
The city is widely known as a capital of the furniture industry. Twice a year the High Point Market fills the downtown showrooms, many of them large buildings devoted entirely to displaying furniture to trade buyers. High Point is also home to High Point University, whose campus has grown considerably in recent years, and to a building shaped like a giant chest of drawers.
