Te mapa
Ar Rahad is in North Kordofan, on the wide, flat savanna of central Sudan. From above the town is spread out and low. It has broad streets and large compounds, and the surrounding land is open, with dirt tracks leading off toward villages and farmland.
A railway line passes through the town and connects it to the wider region. Like many railway towns, it grew partly around movement and trade, with markets serving the surrounding farmers and herders. Rainfall is seasonal, so the landscape around the town changes a great deal between the wet and dry months.
A Ar Rahad map poster renders this sparse landscape in simple lines. It shows the straight railway, a loose grid of streets and tracks spreading out across empty ground. It is an honest, minimal image of a Sahel town, and it has real presence on a wall.
The track cuts straight across the map. It is the town's clearest structural element and its historic link to the region.
The streets are broad, and the compounds are large and low. This gives the town an open, spacious pattern from above.
Unpaved routes lead out in several directions and fade into the open plain around the town.

For Sudanese families, many now scattered across the region and the world, a map of Ar Rahad is a way to keep home visible. It is a simple image of where a story began.
You can add a name in Arabic or English script, a date and your own coordinates line. The poster comes in five styles: Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand.
