Te mapa
Ar Rumaythah lies in Muthanna province in southern Iraq, north of Samawah, on the irrigated plain of the Euphrates. From above, the town is a compact grid surrounded by long, narrow fields and canals. Water is visible everywhere in the landscape, in straight irrigation channels as much as in natural watercourses.
The town is known for the 1920 revolt against British rule in Iraq, which began in Rumaythah in the summer of that year before spreading to other areas along the Euphrates. Today it remains mostly a farming centre, serving the villages and date gardens around it.
An Ar Rumaythah map poster shows the connection between town and land: dense streets in the middle, then canals and fields stretching out in regular strips. The pattern is quiet and precise, and it shows how agriculture has shaped settlement in southern Iraq.
Straight canals and ditches cross the land around the town, drawing long lines across the map and showing how water is distributed across the fields.
The main streets form a tight cluster in the middle of the farmland, the densest area of the print and the focus of local life.
Long, narrow field plots extend from the canals, giving the outer part of the map a fine, repeated pattern.

Koteā ko Ar Rumaythah
For families from Rumaythah, including those living in Baghdad or abroad, the map is a way of keeping the town and its fields close. It also means something to people who know the history of 1920.
Personalise the title, subtitle and coordinates line, including an Arabic name if you prefer, and choose Classic black and white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. Sand suits the plains of southern Iraq.
