Te mapa
Arcahaie lies on the coast north of Port-au-Prince, on a strip of flat land between the mountains of the Chaîne des Matheux and the waters of the bay. From above, the town follows the coast: the national highway runs through it parallel to the shore, and streets branch off toward the sea on one side and toward the irrigated fields and the foothills on the other.
The town holds a special place in Haitian history. It was at Arcahaie, in May 1803, that the Haitian flag was created during a congress of revolutionary leaders, and the anniversary is marked every year as Flag Day. The surrounding plain is agricultural, and the town serves as a market centre for the farms nearby.
An Arcahaie map poster shows a place defined by three bands: the sea, the settlement along the road and the rising land behind it. The shoreline gives the map a strong edge, while the highway draws a continuous line through the centre. It is a simple, clear composition for a town with a significant role in the national story.
The main road north from Port-au-Prince passes straight through the town. On the poster it forms a long central line with side streets branching off.
The coast runs along one side of the town, giving the map a clean edge between built-up blocks and open water.
Behind the town, fields spread across the plain toward the mountains, and the street pattern gradually loosens into rural roads.

Koteā ko Arcahaie
For Haitians at home and in the diaspora, Arcahaie is the birthplace of the flag, and a map of the town is a quiet way of marking that connection. It also suits anyone with family roots along this stretch of coast.
Personalise the title, subtitle and coordinates, perhaps with 18 May 1803 or a family date, and choose from five styles. The HD download is $9 and includes 300 DPI PNG and print-ready PDF files in six sizes, from A3 to 24×36″.
