Te mapa
Avon is a town in Hendricks County, Indiana, on the western edge of the Indianapolis area. As across much of the Midwest, the land was surveyed into a square grid of section-line roads. On a map those long straight lines still frame everything, running north to south and east to west at regular intervals across former farmland.
Within that frame, most of Avon's growth has taken the form of residential subdivisions, each with its own pattern of looping streets, courts and cul-de-sacs. The contrast is what makes the map interesting. Rigid country roads run along the outside, and inside each square mile sits a different curving layout laid down by a different developer.
U.S. 36, known locally as Rockville Road, runs through the town as its main east-west route toward Indianapolis. An Avon map poster shows a suburb that has grown quickly in recent decades, from the old road grid to the newest neighborhoods at its edges. The coordinates line makes clear that this is the Avon in Indiana.
Straight country roads run at even intervals in both directions. They form a large square frame that holds the town's newer streets in place.
Inside each square, residential streets curve, circle back and end in cul-de-sacs. Each neighborhood has its own recognizable pattern.
Rockville Road crosses the town from east to west toward Indianapolis. It is the busiest line on the map, lined with shops and services.

For families who bought their first house here, or watched their neighborhood appear where fields used to be, this map records home at a particular moment. Seen from above, the subdivision patterns are surprisingly graphic.
Add your street name, a move-in date or the family name to the title and subtitle, and adjust the coordinates line. Choose from five styles: Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand. Order it as $9 HD files or as a printed poster, framed if you like.
