Te mapa
Az Zuwaytinah lies on the Mediterranean coast of eastern Libya, on the shores of the Gulf of Sirte, north of Ajdabiya. From above, the map is shaped by the long, almost straight coastline. On one side is open sea and on the other flat, dry land. The town and its industrial installations sit on the narrow strip between them.
Zuwaytinah is best known as one of Libya’s oil export terminals. Pipelines bring crude from inland fields to storage facilities and loading points on the coast. On a map, this shows as large, regular shapes and service roads that look quite different from the smaller residential streets of the town nearby.
An Az Zuwaytinah map poster is an unusual composition. It combines a strong horizontal shoreline, the geometric forms of industrial plots and the loose street pattern of a small coastal town, all set against wide, empty desert. In black and white, it reads as a stark portrait of a place defined by the sea and the oil trade.
The shoreline runs long and nearly straight along the edge of the map. It forms a clean boundary between the town and the Mediterranean.
The terminal’s storage areas and access roads form large, regular shapes near the coast, marking one of the main outlets for Libyan crude.
Inland, the land is flat and largely empty. Only a few roads and pipeline routes cross it, which leaves broad, quiet space on the poster.
