Te mapa
Darnah, also written Derna, lies on Libya's eastern Mediterranean coast, where the slopes of the Jebel Akhdar, the Green Mountain, come close to the sea. The city occupies a narrow coastal strip and is divided by Wadi Derna, a dry riverbed that runs down from the hills into the Mediterranean. On a map the wadi is the clearest line, cutting the city into two halves.
The city has long been known for its gardens, its old quarter and its cultural life within Libya. In September 2023 the storm known as Daniel caused two dams upstream on the wadi to fail, and the resulting flood devastated neighbourhoods along its course and took thousands of lives. The event reshaped the city and remains central to how it is remembered.
A Darnah map poster shows the city with care: the coastline running along one edge, the wadi winding through the centre, and the streets rising toward the escarpment behind. In a restrained black-and-white style, the print becomes a record of a particular landscape and a way to keep a place close, especially for those with family ties to it.
The wadi descends from the hills and crosses the city to the sea, forming the defining line on the map and separating the eastern and western parts of Darnah.
The coast frames the city along its northern side, a mostly straight shoreline with a small harbour that gives the poster a strong horizontal base.
South of the city the land climbs toward the Jebel Akhdar, and roads wind upward in tighter curves, showing where the coastal plain ends and the uplands begin.

Koteā ko Darnah
For people from Darnah, a map of the city can be an act of memory, holding streets and neighbourhoods as they are known and remembered. It is a quiet, respectful object that keeps a home present, wherever its owner now lives.
You can personalise the title, subtitle and coordinates, for example with a family name, a street or a date. Choose from Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand, and download the $9 HD files or order a printed poster on matte paper with an optional wooden frame.
