Te mapa
Bagamoyo lies on the Tanzanian coast north of Dar es Salaam, looking east across the channel towards Zanzibar. On the map the shoreline is the defining line: a long, gently curving beach, fringed in places by mangroves and creeks, with the older town gathered close to the water and newer streets spreading inland.
In the nineteenth century this was the coastal end of the caravan routes from the interior, and it briefly served as the capital of German East Africa. Stone buildings from that period, a former German administrative fort and a Catholic mission founded in 1868 still mark the old quarter, while the medieval Kaole ruins lie just south of town.
The mission is also where David Livingstone's body was brought in 1874 on its way to England. A Bagamoyo map poster draws the town at a quieter scale: the old lanes near the beach, the roads running inland and the coastline that made the place matter across centuries of trade.
The coastline runs along the whole eastern side of the map, a long clean edge broken by creeks and mangrove inlets, with the channel to Zanzibar beyond.
Close to the beach, the historic quarter keeps a compact pattern of short streets around nineteenth-century buildings, the densest part of the town on paper.
Two landmarks frame the town's story: the medieval Kaole ruins to the south and the Catholic mission, founded in 1868, a short distance from the old quarter.

Koteā ko Bagamoyo
Bagamoyo carries a long history in a small footprint, and a map of it is a thoughtful piece for anyone who has studied, worked or travelled there. The poster can be titled as you like, with a date or a line of your own in the subtitle.
Sand and Paper suit the coastal light, Blueprint gives the shoreline a crisp technical look, and Noir or Classic black & white keep it simple. You can start with a free 900 px preview, then choose the $9 HD files or a printed poster.
