Baie-Mahault sits on the eastern edge of Basse-Terre, where the island narrows toward the Rivière Salée, the thin sea channel that separates the two wings of Guadeloupe. From above, the commune reads as a meeting of two textures: the ragged, mangrove-lined edge of the Grand Cul-de-Sac Marin to the north and a denser web of roads spreading inland toward the green slopes of the island.
The most geometric part of the map is Jarry, the large commercial and industrial zone on the peninsula facing Pointe-à-Pitre. Its long, straight streets and big blocks contrast sharply with the soft, winding lanes of the older villages. Bridges across the Rivière Salée tie Baie-Mahault to Grande-Terre, so the commune sits on the main route that links the two halves of the archipelago.
A Baie-Mahault map poster shows that double character clearly. Water takes up much of the frame, broken into channels, coves and tidal flats, while the road network gathers along the dry ground between them. In black and white, the mangrove fringe becomes a fine lacework of coastline, and the orderly blocks of Jarry stand out as the one grid on an otherwise organic shore.

The commercial zone of Jarry forms the most regular pattern on the map, a block of straight streets and large plots set on a peninsula facing Pointe-à-Pitre across the water.
To the north the land dissolves into the bay of the Grand Cul-de-Sac Marin, with an irregular, finely cut shoreline that gives the upper part of the map much of its detail.

Koteā ko Baie-Mahault
For people who grew up in Baie-Mahault or commute across its bridges every day, this map captures the crossroads of Guadeloupe in a single frame: sea channel, mangrove and the streets that link both wings of the island.
You can personalise the title, subtitle and coordinates line, adding a family name or a date, and choose between Classic black and white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand. Blueprint suits the watery outline especially well.
