Ballwin is a suburban city in west St. Louis County, Missouri. On a map it is organised around Manchester Road, which runs east to west through the town and carries most of its shops and services. Neighbourhoods lie north and south of that axis, reached by collector roads that wind into the hills.
The terrain is gently rolling and cut by small creeks, so few streets run straight for long. Subdivisions built mostly in the second half of the twentieth century appear as loops, crescents and cul-de-sacs. Wooded strips and parks follow the valleys between them.
