Te mapa
Banjarbaru lies south-east of Banjarmasin in South Kalimantan, on the island of Borneo. It was conceived in the 1950s as a new, planned town, and its map shows that intention more clearly than most Indonesian cities. A central area of broad roads and government buildings is surrounded by residential neighbourhoods spread across fairly flat, partly forested land.
Syamsudin Noor Airport, which serves the whole province, lies within the city's boundaries, and its runway draws a long straight line on the poster. The main road running from Banjarmasin into the interior passes through the city and connects it to the wider region. Much of the surrounding land remains open, so the built-up areas stand out clearly.
In 2022 Banjarbaru became the capital of South Kalimantan, taking over the role from Banjarmasin. The area is also known for diamond mining in the Cempaka area. A Banjarbaru map poster shows a young capital whose plan still has room to grow, with open land still visible between its neighbourhoods and along its roads.
The core of the city is organised around wide avenues and civic buildings, with a more regular layout than the older river towns of the region.
The long runway of Syamsudin Noor Airport forms a strong straight line within the city boundaries and is one of the most graphic elements on the poster.
Patches of forest and open ground remain between the neighbourhoods. They leave generous white space that makes the street pattern easy to read.

Koteā ko Banjarbaru
Many families have moved to Banjarbaru in recent decades for government work, the university or the airport. A map poster marks that chapter, and it suits new homes whose walls are still waiting for something personal.
Give the poster your own title and subtitle, perhaps with a year, and set the coordinates line. Then choose from Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. Buy the digital files for $9, or order a printed version with an optional wooden frame.
