Barito River edge
The Barito, one of Indonesia's great rivers, runs along the western side of the city. It is so wide that it forms a broad band framing the dense streets on the map.

Te mapa
Banjarmasin sits on flat, marshy ground in South Kalimantan, close to where the Martapura River joins the broad Barito shortly before it reaches the Java Sea. Much of the city lies barely above water level. Its nickname, the City of a Thousand Rivers, makes sense from above: channels and creeks run between neighbourhoods in every direction.
Streets here follow the water rather than a grid. Roads trace riverbanks and canal edges, bridges appear constantly, and many houses were traditionally built on stilts or floating rafts facing the river. The Martapura winds through the centre in wide loops. The Barito forms a huge edge along the west, far wider than anything else on the map.
River trade has shaped the city for centuries. Its floating markets, where traders sell produce from small boats in the early morning, remain its best-known image. A Banjarmasin map poster is largely a picture of water: wide ribbons of river, thin lines of canals, and the pieces of street network that fit between them.

The Martapura River winds through the centre in loops before meeting the Barito. Roads, bridges and waterfront neighbourhoods follow its curves.
Smaller rivers and channels branch between districts and split the street pattern into irregular pieces joined by bridges. The structure looks nothing like a planned inland city.

Koteā ko Banjarmasin
For anyone from Banjarmasin, the rivers hold the city's memories: morning markets, boat rides, a house on the water. A poster keeps that geography in plain view. The title and subtitle can carry a name, a neighbourhood or a date, and the coordinates line can point to a place that matters.
Maps with this much water look striking in Noir and Blueprint, while Classic black & white stays calm and precise. Paper and Sand add a softer, older feel. Download HD files in six sizes for $9, or order a matte printed poster with an optional wooden frame.
