Te mapa
Beloha lies in the Androy region, in the far south of Madagascar, one of the driest parts of the island. The town is modest in size. On a map it appears as a small cluster of streets and compounds where a few rural roads meet, surrounded by a very wide expanse of open country.
The Androy region is home to the Antandroy people, whose name is often translated as people of the thorns. The name refers to the spiny forest and dry scrub that cover much of the landscape. Rainfall is low and irregular, and the region has faced repeated droughts, which shape both farming and the pattern of settlement.
Small villages and hamlets appear across the surrounding land, linked to Beloha by tracks that run long and straight or curve gently over the terrain. A Beloha map poster is spare by nature: a handful of roads, clusters of homes and a great deal of open space. In black and white, the print has a quiet, almost graphic simplicity.
Beloha sits where rural roads converge, so the map shows a compact cluster of streets with routes leading off toward outlying villages and the wider south.
Dry scrub and spiny forest cover much of the land around the town. They are drawn as open space, which gives the few roads strong visual weight.
Small settlements dot the surrounding land at intervals. Each is a knot of lines connected to its neighbours by long, thin tracks across the landscape.

Koteā ko Beloha
This is a map for people with a real connection to southern Madagascar: those from Androy, and those who have worked, studied or volunteered there. Its minimal linework makes it a calm, meaningful piece more than a decorative one.
Change the title and subtitle to add a name, a date or a few words in Malagasy, and adjust the coordinates line if you wish. Select one of five styles and download the HD files, or order a printed poster.
