Te mapa
Bentonville sits in the northwest corner of Arkansas, on the rolling edge of the Ozark Plateau. Its historic core is a classic courthouse square with a compact grid of streets around it. From there the city spreads outward in every direction, with newer neighbourhoods, office campuses and road corridors that reflect its rapid growth over recent decades.
Bentonville is best known as the home of Walmart, whose founder Sam Walton opened his five-and-dime on the town square. North of downtown, the Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art sits in a wooded ravine around spring-fed ponds. The city has also become a destination for mountain biking, and trails and greenways thread through the woods and along the creeks.
A Bentonville map poster shows how the tidy square gives way to curving suburban streets, looping trails and the green hollow of the museum grounds. Rendered in black and white, it is a portrait of a small town that has grown into something larger without losing its centre. It suits residents, newcomers who came for work, and cyclists who know every trail.
The historic courthouse square sits at the centre of a compact grid, the point from which the whole city plan seems to unfold.
North of downtown, the museum grounds follow a wooded creek valley, and the curving paths and ponds read as a soft, organic shape on the poster.
Mountain bike trails and greenways wind through the woods and along creeks, adding fine, meandering lines that set the map apart from a typical suburban plan.

Koteā ko Bentonville
Many people come to Bentonville for work and end up staying, while others pass through for a few formative years. A map keeps that chapter in view, from the square to the trailheads, and it looks at home in a new house, a home office or a first apartment.
