Bikou Map Poster & Print
Bikou lies in the south of Gansu Province, in steep mountain country near the borders with Sichuan and Shaanxi. The Bailong River flows through the area, and the town is set in its valley, with little flat land on either side. On a map, the settlement follows the shape of the river closely and forms a long, thin strip.
The Bikou hydropower station dams the Bailong here, and the reservoir behind it fills the gorge upstream. On a poster, the shape of the reservoir, with its irregular, branching banks, contrasts with the narrow ribbon of streets downstream. Roads follow the valley and cling to the mountainsides where the terrain allows.
