Te mapa
Boa Vista has one of the most recognisable plans of any Brazilian city. Its central streets radiate from the Praça do Centro Cívico like the ribs of an open fan, with the wide curve of the Rio Branco running along the eastern side. The layout was designed in the 1940s, when the town became capital of a new federal territory, and it still defines the city's shape today.
Beyond the fan, the city spreads west in a looser grid of residential blocks, interrupted by small lakes that dot the surrounding savanna, locally called lavrado. The Macuxi Bridge crosses the river to the east bank. A Boa Vista map poster makes the radial design especially striking: from above the centre looks almost like a diagram, with every avenue leading back to the same point.
Boa Vista is the capital of Roraima and the only Brazilian state capital located entirely north of the equator. It lies far from the country's other major cities, closer to Venezuela and Guyana than to much of Brazil, and the road north toward the Venezuelan border passes through it. The flat terrain lets the street pattern show without interruption.
Avenues spread outward from the civic square in a semicircle, giving the centre its unmistakable half-wheel shape. It is among the clearest planned layouts in Brazil.
The broad river forms the eastern edge of the old town. Its sandbanks and wide channel appear as a large pale area set against the dense street lines.
Small rounded lakes are scattered through the western districts and the open land beyond, breaking the grid with soft, irregular shapes.

Koteā ko Boa Vista
Boa Vista's plan appeals to anyone who likes cities that look designed, and means a great deal to those who grew up at the far north of Brazil. Add your own title, a subtitle with a date, and the coordinates line to mark the connection.
Blueprint suits the radial diagram particularly well, while Sand echoes the savanna. Classic black & white, Noir and Paper complete the five styles. HD files are $9 for six print sizes, and printed posters on matte paper ship from partners in 30+ countries.
