Te mapa
Parintins is on Tupinambarana Island in the Amazon River, in the east of Amazonas state. From above, the town is a compact grid on the island's riverbank, facing a channel several kilometres wide. Inland, the land breaks up into lakes, side channels and seasonal floodplain. The water can make up more of the map than the land does.
The town is known across Brazil for its annual Festival Folclórico, where two boi-bumbá groups, Garantido in red and Caprichoso in blue, compete in a purpose-built arena called the Bumbódromo. Parintins has no road link to the rest of the country, so boats and planes connect it to Manaus and beyond.
A Parintins map poster shows how a regular town plan meets the looser forms of the rainforest river. The straight blocks stop at the waterline, and the irregular outlines of lakes and channels take over past them. The contrast gives the print a strong sense of place without any decoration.
The town faces the main river along a long, straight shoreline. On the map it shows as a clean boundary between the grid and a wide stretch of open water.
The centre is laid out in regular rectangular blocks. It is a tidy, ordered pattern that stands out against the irregular natural shapes around it.
Behind the town, lakes and channels cut into the island. Their water levels change with the seasons, and they give the edges of the map an organic, broken texture.

Koteā ko Parintins
This poster suits anyone who has been to the festival, grew up on the island or travelled the Amazon by boat. It is a clear, graphic reminder of a town that belongs as much to the river as to the land.
You can set the title, subtitle and coordinates, perhaps with the year you went to the festival. Then choose a style: Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. Noir makes the river look especially deep.
