Te mapa
From above, Burntwood does not radiate from one centre. It reads as several settlements that grew towards each other: clusters of terraced streets, postwar estates and cul-de-sacs joined by a few main roads, with green gaps still showing where fields and common land once separated the villages.
Burntwood grew on coal. Collieries drew workers to this corner of Staffordshire in the nineteenth century, and the housing they left behind still shapes the street pattern. Just west of the town, Chasewater, a reservoir built to supply the canal network, draws a large irregular shape of open water, with a country park and heath around its shores.
A Burntwood map poster brings out this loose arrangement: fine residential lanes set against the plain surface of the reservoir, with the countryside between Lichfield and Cannock Chase framing the town on every side. In black and white, the edges where the town gives way to heath and farmland are as legible as the streets themselves.
The large body of water on the western side is the strongest single shape on the map, its uneven shoreline and surrounding parkland creating a calm open field beside the dense housing.
Separate neighbourhoods with their own small centres appear as distinct knots of streets, linked by connecting roads rather than arranged around a single high street.
Heath, fields and patches of woodland press in between the built-up areas, so the town's outline stays irregular and open rather than forming a solid block.

For people who grew up here, the map is a record of a place that was once several places. Streets walked to school, the path around the water and the road towards Lichfield all sit on one sheet, easy to trace with a finger.
You can set your own title, subtitle and coordinates line, adding a family name or a moving-in date, then choose from Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. The $9 digital files include six print sizes, and printed posters are available with an optional wooden frame.
