Te mapa
Cachoeirinha belongs to the metropolitan area of Porto Alegre in Rio Grande do Sul, and on a map it merges almost seamlessly with its neighbours. The Gravataí River runs along its southern side, separating it from the state capital, with low wetlands and meadows along the banks. North of the river the town spreads out as a broad grid of residential streets.
The city grew largely in the second half of the twentieth century as the Porto Alegre region expanded, and much of its layout reflects that period: regular blocks, industrial areas near the main highways and wide avenues leading toward the capital. Porto Alegre's international airport lies close by, just across the river.
A Cachoeirinha map poster shows a town defined by its connections: a river on one side, highways crossing it, and a continuous urban fabric on the others. In black and white, the winding line of the Gravataí contrasts sharply with the regular grid of streets to the north.
The river winds along the southern edge of the city, bordered by low wetlands, and gives the map its most natural and irregular line.
Much of the city is laid out in regular blocks, producing an even pattern of streets that fills the middle of the print.
Main roads cross the city and link it to Porto Alegre and neighbouring towns, cutting clear diagonal and straight lines through the grid.
