Te mapa
Cepu lies in Blora Regency at the eastern edge of Central Java, right on the Bengawan Solo, Java's longest river, which forms the border with East Java here. From above, the river curves along the edge of the town, the railway cuts across it, and teak forest and farmland surround a compact centre of dense streets.
Cepu has been an oil town since the Dutch colonial period, when wells and a refinery were established in the area at the end of the nineteenth century. Oil is still central to its identity, and the town hosts training and industrial facilities for the sector. The surrounding teak forests are another long-standing part of the local economy.
A Cepu map poster shows those overlapping layers: the broad, winding river, the railway line, the planned blocks of the older industrial compounds and the finer pattern of kampung streets. It is an unusual combination of nature and industry, and it reads clearly in black and white.
Java's longest river bends along the town's edge and marks the provincial border, giving the map a strong natural boundary on one side.
Industrial and company areas linked to the oil sector form larger, more regular blocks that stand apart from the dense residential streets.
The railway crosses Cepu in a long, straight line, a clean graphic element set against the curves of the river and the surrounding roads.

Koteā ko Cepu
Families of oil workers, engineers who trained here and people who grew up by the Bengawan Solo all have their own reasons to keep Cepu on the wall. The mix of river and industry makes the map more interesting than its size might suggest.
