Chengjiao Map Poster & Print
Chengjiao is in southern Gansu, in the Longnan area. The Bailong River valley here cuts deep into the mountains between the Qinling range and the Sichuan border. The name means something like the urban outskirts, and the settlement spreads along the valley floor wherever the terrain leaves room for it.
From above, the geography is unusually clear. The built-up area is a long ribbon following the river, with roads, bridges and blocks packed into the narrow flat land between steep, folded slopes. Side valleys branch off at angles, and small roads follow them uphill for a short way before they stop.
A Chengjiao map poster is essentially a portrait of a valley: a river line, a city stretched along it and mountains pressing in from both sides. It's a very recognisable shape, and it stands apart from the flat, sprawling grids of cities in eastern China.

Bridges
Several crossings join the two banks and cut across the valley at short intervals. They are some of the clearest details on the map.

Steep slopes close in on both sides, and the streets end where the terrain rises. The empty space around the city is part of the design.
