Cheruvannur lies on the southern outskirts of Kozhikode on the Malabar coast of Kerala. As in much of coastal Kerala, the settlement pattern is not a grid but a continuous spread of houses, lanes and small roads under heavy tree cover. It merges with neighbouring areas so that town and suburb are hard to tell apart.
