Te mapa
Ciudad Miguel Alemán is in the northern Mexican state of Tamaulipas, on the south bank of the Rio Grande, known in Mexico as the Río Bravo. Its map is simple. A regular grid of streets fills the town, and the river runs along its northern edge, with the United States on the other side.
An international bridge links the city with Roma, Texas, directly across the water, and the two towns have long been closely connected. The city takes its name from Miguel Alemán Valdés, President of Mexico from 1946 to 1952. Around the grid, the dry, open land of the lower Rio Grande valley spreads out, crossed by highways and farm roads.
A Ciudad Miguel Alemán map poster shows how a border town meets its river. There is the evenly spaced grid, the winding line of the Rio Grande and the short, straight crossing to the other side. In monochrome the contrast between straight streets and curving water becomes the main subject of the print.
The river winds along the northern edge of the city and marks the border between Mexico and the United States. Its meandering curve contrasts with the straight streets beside it.
A bridge carries traffic across the river to Roma, Texas. On the map it is a short, deliberate line joining two street networks in two countries.
Most of the city follows a clear grid of blocks, a common plan in northern Mexican towns. It gives the poster a tidy, geometric base.
