Te mapa
Dergaon is a town in Golaghat district, Assam, on the southern side of the wide Brahmaputra valley. The land around it is flat and green: rice fields, tea gardens, small wetlands and slow streams that flood during the monsoon. It is home to the Assam Police Training College, and the old hilltop Shiva temple at Negheriting lies nearby.
On the map, the town forms a small cluster of streets along its main roads, with the railway running past. Beyond the centre, the lines quickly give way to fields, and the regular geometry of tea garden blocks and irregular water bodies appear.
A Dergaon map poster presents this lowland setting clearly: a modest town, a few strong transport lines and the open, watery plain of Upper Assam around it. It is a warm and personal image for families from the area.
The main road and the railway pass by the town. They form the strongest lines on the poster and connect Dergaon with the rest of Upper Assam.
Tea estates in the area are laid out in orderly sections. Their geometry contrasts with the loose shapes of the fields and wetlands around them.
Small streams and ponds lie scattered across the plain. They reflect the seasonal floods of the Brahmaputra valley and add gentle curves to the map.
