Te mapa
Nyingchi occupies a green valley in southeastern Tibet, at a noticeably lower altitude than Lhasa and far more forested than most of the plateau. Its urban centre, often called Bayi, stretches along the Nyang River, a tributary of the Yarlung Tsangpo, and the whole town reads on a map as a long, narrow strip bounded by steep slopes on both sides.
The river dominates the composition. It braids and widens across its gravel bed, with bridges crossing at intervals and roads running parallel to the banks. Streets inside the town are fairly regular, set out in blocks on the flat valley floor, but they stop sharply where the mountains begin, so the settlement has a crisp, elongated outline.
A Nyingchi map poster captures a place defined by its setting. The region is known for spring peach blossom and for its proximity to the Yarlung Tsangpo Grand Canyon, one of the deepest gorges in the world. On paper, the town becomes a thin band of streets held between river and mountain.
The river runs the full length of the town in wide, braided channels, drawn as the strongest shape on the poster and crossed by a series of road bridges.
On the flat ground beside the river, streets settle into orderly blocks, a compact planned pattern that contrasts with the empty mountain slopes around it.
Steep, forested ridges close in on both sides, so the built area ends abruptly and the map gains a long, narrow silhouette that is unmistakable.

Koteā ko Nyingchi
A Nyingchi print appeals to travellers who crossed the plateau and remember the sudden green of this valley, and to anyone drawn to places shaped by rivers and mountains. It is a quiet reminder of a journey into eastern Tibet.
