Eravur Town is in Batticaloa District, in Sri Lanka's Eastern Province, a short way north of Batticaloa. The region is low and flat, shaped by lagoons, sandbars and the Indian Ocean. Eravur sits on the landward side of this watery landscape. The main coastal road runs through it north toward Valaichchenai and Trincomalee.
